Dragoljub Minić

Dragoljub Minić (born April 5, 1936 in Podgorica , † around April 5, 2005 in Novi Sad ) was a Yugoslav chess player .

Minić 'chess career reached its peak in the 1960s and 1970s, so he won the Yugoslav chess championship together with Aleksandar Matanović in 1962 . In 1964 he received the title of International Master . In 1990 he became an honorary grandmaster .

Minić represented Yugoslavia at the 1962 Chess Olympiads in Varna , in which Yugoslavia took second place, and in Siegen in 1970 , in which Yugoslavia took third place, and at the European Team Championships in 1961 , 1965, 1970 and 1977. He reached 1961, 1965 and 1977 second place with the team.

On April 9, 2005, Minić was found dead in his apartment by friends after he did not respond to attempts at contact. The medical examination showed that he died from a heart attack, presumably on his 69th birthday.

Minić's last Elo rating was 2355, he was already listed as inactive at this point, as he did not play a rated game after 1989. It reached its highest Elo rating of 2,490 in July 1971. Before the Elo rating was introduced, Minić achieved its highest historical rating of 2601 in December 1970 .

Remarks

  1. According to the source, Minić is said to have received the honorary grandmaster title during the Chess Olympiad in Novi Sad in 1991, but this took place at the end of 1990.
