Rotary solar house

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rotating solar house in Rheine

A rotating solar house is a single-family house that completely or partially covers its energy needs with solar energy . Compared to conventional solar systems, the special feature is that the entire building is stored on a turntable, which means that the solar collectors can be aligned towards the sun. This results in a higher energy yield.

A prototype of a rotating solar house is located in the transfer center for appropriate technologies in Rheine , this is from a 20  Watt strong electric motor track the sun.

Further representatives of this house type are the Gemini house in Weiz and the Heliotrop in Freiburg im Breisgau . Both approaches have shown that a tracking system does not bring about a massive improvement in the energy balance, even though turning hardly consumes any energy.

As a further development, the rotating house in Central Hesse realizes this high energy yield as a plus-energy house with its large window, photovoltaic and solar thermal areas that follow the course of the sun .
