history

According to information from the Regensburg diocesan registers from 1863, the chapel was built in 1706 and Holy Mass was also celebrated here. It is also the 15th station on the Way of the Cross (Rosenkranzweg) leading to the pilgrimage church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary . The Waldthurner Saalbuch from 1715 says about its foundation : The " small chapel SS. Trinity standing next to the pilgrimage church" is incidentally half partly from the funds of Mr. Andreas Pommer, Imperial Body Quadri Trabanten zu Vienna, partly from the funds of the Church of Our Lady aldsa built and benedicated by Mr. Cammerer on August 15, 1706 after he had received gracious consistorial permission ”, Father Weinzierl asked Prince Lobkowitz , the Lobkowitzers were then in possession of Waldthurn, to place this chapel under his special protection. Andreas Pommer was a bodyguard and boot wanker for the wife of Emperor Charles VI. , Elisabeth Christine of Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel . He also donated a mass to be read on Trinity Sunday. In 1776 a small bell was donated for the chapel with the inscription " Erhart Kissner poured me 1776 ".

Chapel building

Until 1890 the chapel had a roof turret with an onion dome . This was removed before 1904 and the bell was given to the Lennesrieth morgue. Today the chapel is a simple hall with a hipped roof over a rectangular floor plan . The ceiling consists of a cross vault with belt arches on pilasters . It has a west-facing entrance porch.

Chapel interior

The altarpiece shows the coronation of Mary . The altar is dated to the late 17th century. It contains two twisted columns wound with vines in the so-called cartilage style . The wooden figures on the side represent St. Jacob and a pilgrim. In the altar extract is the wooden figure of Salvator mundi in a white gold frame.
