The Holy Trinity Church ( Serbian : Црква Свете Тројице, Crkva Svete Trojice ) in the Opština (municipality) Bijeljina belonging village Amajlije is a Serbian Orthodox parish church in the northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The church, built from 1997 to 2002, is dedicated to the Holy Trinity . It is the parish church and the only church building in the Amajlije parish in the Bijeljina deanery of the Zvornik - Tuzla eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church .

location

The Trinity Church is in the center of the village of Amajlije, which has around 1100 inhabitants. Amajlije is located on the Semberija plain , about five kilometers southeast of the municipality capital Bijeljina, not far from the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the neighboring country of Serbia to the east.

The municipality of Bijeljina is located in the Republika Srpska , one of the two entities in the country with a predominantly Serbian population.

The church is surrounded by the fenced churchyard in which the rectory is located. The rectory with a large hall was built in 2005 and is the work of the Bosniak architect Mirsad Izić from Bijeljina. In the churchyard there is a memorial for the victims of the Bosnian War (1992–1995) from the village.

There is also a small chapel in the churchyard. The chapel was built in 2002. Ktitor (founder) of the chapel is the Dimić family from Bijeljina.

There is also a Serbian Orthodox cemetery in the village. The Slava of the village is the third day of Pentecost .

history

The parish of Amajlije was founded in 2005, and the parish registers have also been kept since 2005. The Amajlije parish includes the two villages Amajlije and Novo Selo .

Construction of the Holy Trinity Church began in 1997. The church was built according to the design of the architect Ljubiša Škorić. The construction work was carried out by OJDP Rad , a company from Bijeljina . The foundations of the church were consecrated on May 3, 1998 by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy.

The construction work on the church building was completed in 2002. On June 15, 2002, after five years of construction, the church was solemnly consecrated by Bishop Vasilije (Kačavenda).

The Trinity Church has been painted with Byzantine frescoes by Branislav Šavija from Bijeljina since 2014. The iconostasis was carved by the deacon Tomislav Živanović (from the Serbian city of Kragujevac ). The icons were painted by Vojkan Mitrić from Šipovo .

The single-nave church was built in the Serbian-Byzantine style , with an altar - apse in the east and a church tower with a large entrance portal in the west. The church was built from small bricks, the roof is also covered with bricks.

The facade of the church is kept simple in white with yellow paintings on the church tower and the side walls. The entrance to the church is on the west side. Above the entrance there is a large patronage icon depicting the Holy Trinity.

Dragan Ilić has been a priest of the Trinity Church in Amajlije since the parish was founded in 2005 .
