The Droißingerwald is a forest area near Sierning in Upper Austria .

Location and landscape

The Droißingerwald is one of the larger remains of the forest in the extra-alpine Traunviertel . It is located in the Traun-Enns-Riedelland northwest of Sierning , in the municipality of Sierning and Schiedlberg , at around 400  m above sea level. A.

The forest stretches almost 3 kilometers northeast to southwest from Droißendorf and Oberbrunnern to Hilbern . It includes the Riedel of the valleys of the uppermost Ipfbach and the St. Marienbach , a western tributary of the former. At its western end it also reaches into the ditch of the Seilerbach (Vallabach), which then goes over Schiedlberg to the Krems .

history

The Droißingerwald belongs to the forest area between Dietach and Sierning mentioned in 777, which belonged to the Slawendekanie . Until the 18th century he was seen as part of the Hametwalds , today south by the Auslichtungen at lower Hilbern is separated and Hilbern, and called it the Lower Hametwald .

Nature and water management

The forest is a largely contiguous commercial forest that is only cut up by the Schiedlberger Straße (L1372, Sierning - Schiedlberg) and two municipal roads at the very edge (Droißendorfstraße, Rohrstraße to Hilbern).

The forest is to be designated as a water conservation area (Hametwald-Droißingerwald) , on the south-eastern edge near Paichberg there is a water protection area (Sierning / Paicherg) , and it is considered a development area for the further supply of the lower Steyr valley.
