Schiedlberg is a municipality with 1249 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in Upper Austria in the Steyr-Land district .
geography
Schiedlberg is 377 m above sea level in the Traunviertel . The extension is 7.4 km from north to south and 7.1 km from west to east. 12.3% of the area is forested, 80% is used for agriculture.

Community structure
The municipality includes the following six localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):
- Schiedlberg - main town, in the center of the municipality (444)
- Thanstetten - scattered settlement in the west (338)
- Goldberg - scattered settlement in the northeast (125)
- Matzelsdorf - in the east (82)
- Droißendorf - in the southeast (81)
- Hilbern - in the South (. 179, also Gem Sierning )
The community consists of three cadastral communities ;
- Thanstetten - Thanstetten, parts of Schiedlberg, Hilbern
- Droissendorf - Droissendorf, parts of Schiedlberg
- Matzelsdorf - Matzelsdorf, parts of Schiedlberg, Goldberg
The only counting area is Schiedlberg .
history
Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .
During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
The community was founded in 1850. At that time the community name was Thannstetten or Thanstetten . The place with this name is now called Hilbern .
During the First World War , a relatively large number of Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe were housed in the entire Steyr-Land district. In Schiedlberg (then Thanstetten) there was a school for the refugee children.
Since 1918 the place belonged to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In 1939 Brunnern was changed to the municipality of Sierning .
After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place. In 1947 the community name was changed to Schiedlberg , after the meanwhile important church village Schiedlberg .
Population development
In 1991 the community had 1244 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 it had 1279 inhabitants.

Culture and sights
societies
There has been brass music in Schiedlberg for more than 160 years . The Schiedlberg band was founded in 1853 by master baker Anton Aigner zu Thanstetten. Internal differences led to the division of the band and the foundation of the Schiedlberg village music in 1981. Since 2014 they have been walking together again with the establishment of the Schiedlberg Music Association.
