History and infrastructure

Until the 18th century, Schiedlberg was a small settlement of some farmsteads in the Riedel between Vallabach (Sinterbach, old Akallabach, Nöstlbach) and Marienbach (Astenbach, Samereinerbach, also western Ipf).

In 1786 Joseph II founded a parish in Than [n] stetten and a school. The church was built on the property of the inn (tavern) Am Schiedlberg until 1790. The landlord on the Schiedlberg was also the bailiff of the Schiedlberg district of Gschwendt until 1848.With the construction of the church, the parsonage was also built, which initially also served as a school (from 1786 to 1788 the school was housed in the inn).

In 1805 an independent village was created for the parish, with parts of the localities Thanstetten, Droißendorf and Matzelsdorf, at that time 68 numbers. In 1879 the former Peterederhaus and the parish hall were acquired by the municipality, and in 1888 also the post office. The current municipal office stands next to the school, which was built in 1887 and expanded in 1896.

By 1930 the village had 16 addresses, two of them in Thanstetten. In 1947 the municipality of Thanstetten was named after the meanwhile more important main town, Schiedlberg (the town of Thanstetten is now called Hilbern). In 2001 the village consisted of 111 houses, 86 of them with main residence.
