The Schiedlberg parish church is located in the village of Schiedlberg in the municipality of Schiedlberg in Upper Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church of the Annunciation is part of the Steyr deanery in the Linz diocese . The church is a listed building .

history

The parish is an institution of Josephinism and was established in 1786 on the instructions of Joseph II . Until then, the area had mainly belonged to the old Sierning parish , which was subordinate to the Diocese of Passau . Her name was - like that of the political community - until 1947 Than [ n ] stetten. At first a small wooden chapel was used. Its parish encompassed the redesigned localities of Thanstetten and Schiedlberg (excluding Enzelsdorf ) in 1805 , today parts of the communities of Piberbach and St. Marien also belong to it.

The church was built from 1786 to 1790, along with the rectory, which also served as a school until 1887. The funds came from the religious fund, from the local rulers (dominions) and from the parish. Vogtei initially held the rule of Sierning .

The parish has belonged to the Steyr-West pastoral care area since 2004, the parish administrator is the pastor of Sierning, and a voluntary pastoral care team is active on site.

architecture

The sober classical church building has a single nave, three-bay nave with a flat hanging dome and a recessed rectangular choir with a segmental arch and a sacristy extension behind the choir. The west gallery is triaxial. The discontinued west tower has a hood. The west and south portals are classicistic.

Furnishing

The high altar with statues in the Rococo style with an altarpiece by the painter Franz Xaver Gürtler (1777) was transferred here from the abandoned Cölestinerinnen church in Steyr in 1839 . The simpler side altars are from the first half of the 19th century. The pulpit is from 1804. The baroque figure of Maria Immaculata in the nave is from the first quarter of the 18th century. The traffic light for Eternal Light is from 1839.
