history

Foundation (2007)

Drumartic was founded in Lienz in spring 2007. The founding members Rene Mair, Markus Warscher and Peter Lindsberger formed around band leader Markus Wendlinger. The created name "Drum (ART) ic" should refer to the art of drumming. At first walking acts and small shows were rehearsed, but soon they decided to work out their own arrangements and programs.

Concerts (2008-2014)

The premiere of the Drumartic concerts took place in spring 2008 in the auditorium of the Lienz high school. In 2008 to 2009 the band also developed instrumentally. The bass part, initially played with timpani, is performed by a self-made instrument from over 50 meters of drainage pipes, each tone (pipe) is picked up by a microphone. The total weight is 100 kilograms. Not only the very special bass sound is unique, it is also an "eye-catcher" and becomes an integral part of the drum artic equipment. The plastophon was presented at the 2nd gymnastics concert in 2009. A so-called midiphon (mallet-kat) also enhances the sound of the band. A store of curious and unusual instruments allows the four percussionists a variety of sound options. They impress with classic percussion such as marimba and vibraphone but also with African drums, or with everyday objects such as rain barrels, aluminum ladders, painters' buckets, kayaks, bicycles, etc. Due to their success, the decision was made to outsource the other annual concerts.

The number of inquiries throughout Austria also increased steadily - appearances at the Red Bull football championship celebration, friendly match FC Bayern Munich vs. Red Bull Salzburg and much more. followed.

The community forum in Nussdorf-Debant was completely sold out at the Drumartic concert in 2011. A new style, more electronic, dance songs and more own compositions, including a singer, were on the program. While street acts and smaller unplugged shows stayed the same, the new style was presented at large events.

In August 2012, the Lienz percussion quartet caused a sensation in the RGO Arena under the name “Drum Roll”. A 2-day festival was presented. Musician friends of the talent show “ Die große Chance ” did the opening act, Drumartic presented their new album Big Boom indoors , the world's largest drum kit “The Big Boom” was set up in the outdoor area, and the Discovery Channel (Canada) was flown in specially for the spectacle film when the musicians had embarked on "The Big Boom" in the second half of each evening. They looked like dwarfs and when the show started, the sound could be heard within 10 kilometers.

In August 2014, a two-day comeback concert was celebrated in the courtyard of Schloss Bruck (Lienz) . In memory of Markus Wendlinger, this concert celebrated the future of the band. A largely new program was developed and friend Markus Mußhauser was welcomed. Markus Mußhauser, keyboard player, sound engineer at Koch Universal Studio, gives the band a new shine with his sounds.

"The Big Boom" - The world's largest drumset (2012)

The idea was born back in 2011 in Vienna at the time of the big chance elimination in the semifinals. "Something gigantic has to come about, people have to get scared" was the statement of friend and patron Walter Pondorfer, who with his company specialized in planning and developing radio equipment for amusement parks. And so the world's largest drum kit, "The Big Boom", was born in the heads of the funny group. The construction phase began in winter and you could see the first contours. When you consider that this monster is 6.5 meters high and weighs 1.5 tons, you realize that it is going to be a huge hit. The bass drum alone has a diameter of 3.30 meters.

World premiere in the Vienna Prater

On May 1, 2012, "The Big Boom" was entered in the Guinness Book of Records. The giant drum kit was set up for the premiere in Vienna's Prater for a day, television stations from all over the world came to broadcast the recordings to Russia, China, Brazil, the USA, etc.

Single A New Day (2013)

In spring 2013, the recording of the song A New Day, composed especially for the four-paw band contest, began . The band had often played music together with the singer Kathrin Mußhauser and it was she who came into question for this new song that band leader Markus Wendlinger created.

The prize was a professional studio recording in the Cosmix-Studio Vienna and a trip to South Africa ( Lionsrock ), where the filming of the new music video was supposed to take place, including a concert for World Animal Day 2013 at the Lionsrock Lodge.

South Africa / serious accident of the band (2013)

On October 1st, the band went to South Africa to take part in the film they won at Lionsrock. The recordings of the individual sunrises, coupled with the sounds of Drumartic, made this time one of the highlights of his career. When the safari car and the band and other occupants had an accident on the last day of shooting due to a brake failure, band leader Markus Wendlinger was killed. Another organizer of the trip also lost his life in the accident. Some of the band members were seriously injured.

In the period from October 2013 to spring 2014, the band suffered from the consequences of the serious loss of their friend and the injuries that threw them completely off track.

Creative break / change of the band

From September to December 2014 Drumartic took a creative break. In December 2014, founding member Warscher Markus “Roody” left the band for private reasons. Michael Kapfinger and Stefan Mörtl joined the band and work is back on. Drumartic now consists of four drummers and a keyboardist again.

In January 2015 the new formation of the band celebrated its premiere. The “Speed and Drums” show planned and coordinated by Dieter Remler was broadcast live on ORF.
