The Drybrough Cup was played for the first time in 1971 . The Scottish Football Cup competition, which was run by the Scottish Football Association, began on July 31, 1971 and ended with the final on August 7, 1971 in Pittodrie Park in Aberdeen . The four best-placed teams from the first and second Scottish leagues of the 1970/71 season took part in the competition. The competition took place in knockout mode and consisted of the 1st round, the semi-finals and the final. In the final, Aberdeen FC and Celtic Glasgow faced each other. The Dons won the final 2-1.
