The Drybrough Cup was played for the 6th and last time in 1980 . The Scottish Football Cup competition, which was run by the Scottish Football Association, began on July 26, 1980 and ended with the final on August 2, 1980 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . The four best-placed teams from the first and second Scottish leagues of the 1979/80 season took part in the competition. The competition took place in knockout mode and consisted of the 1st round, the semi-finals and the final. In the final were Aberdeen FC , which had already won the title in 1971 , and St. Mirren FC . The Dons won the final 2-1.
