Drygalski , also Drigalski, Drigalsky, Drygalsky is an old and wealthy East Prussian noble family , which is nicknamed Korvin. The Drygalskis are a branch of the Polish aristocratic Gutowski family from the de Slepowron (Korvin) knight family in the Duchy of Mazovia .

history

In 1505 the nobleman Martinus Gutowski bought the villages Drygallen , Wiersbinnen and Schlaga near Lyck in Masuria .

His son Paul was pastor in Drygallen from 1546 to 1596 and took the name Drygalski based on his residence in Drygallen . He thus became the progenitor of the Drygalski family. The Drygalski family appeared in Drygallen until the beginning of the 18th century, later the members of this family acquired further considerable estates in the districts of Lötzen , Angerburg , Lyck, Johannisburg and in Lithuania .

Alexander and Johannes von Drygalski received on February 18, 1755 from King Friedrich II. A diploma of recognition of their old nobility. Numerous rungs emerged from this sex, which were in royal Prussian military and civil service and served with distinction. The 1806 ranking of the Prussian Army lists 13 officers of this name. The noble family still exists today.

In the sky-blue field there is a silver horseshoe with its heels erect on the underside and a golden cavalier's cross on its shoulders . On the cross is a raven pointing to the right with a gold ring in its beak. In the jewel above the helmet, in the crown, the same black raven with the golden ring in its beak. The labs are blue with silver on the underside.
