Janub al-Sharqiyyah
Janub al-Sharqiyya ( Arabic محافظة جنوب الشرقية, DMG Muḥāfaẓat Ǧanūb aš-Šarqīya , roughly 'the south east') is one of the eleven governorates of Oman. It was created in 2011 as part of a territorial reform of Oman, whereby the region of al-Sharqiyyah was divided into a north and a south part (the northern part is called Shamal al-Sharqiyya ). Geographically, the southern part is in the east and the northern part in the west. Its capital is Sur . The governorate is divided into the Wilayat Sur, al-Kamil wa-l-Wafi , Jaalan Bani Bu Hasan , Jaalan Bani Bu Ali and Masira .
