You lied to me a thousand times is a hit song by Andrea Berg . It was released in March 2001 as a single from the album Where is Paradise . The song grew to be one of their best known and was often covered.
Creation and publication
The song was written by Berg's producer Eugen Römer together with Irma Holder and Berg himself and produced by Römer. Although the protagonist was “cheated a thousand times” and “hurt a thousand times” by the loved one with whom she “laughed so often”, she would “do it again, with you, tonight”. The well-known lines of refrain were created during a drive. Berg and Römer had not been able to get used to the original lines of the copywriter, and Berg himself had thought of the refrain text.
In March 2001 the single was released on both Jupiter Records / BMG as a promo single and as an official single on Juke Records. The promo single includes the song When Heaven Burns , the official single a party mix as the B-side . The song appeared on dozens of compilation albums in addition to the album . Various live and acoustic versions appeared on later albums.
reception
The song reached a chart position in Germany with number 96 only in the week of January 25, 2013. The official video was viewed over 18.5 million times on YouTube (as of November 2019). Although it was "for years the best-selling hit single in Germany", it has so far not received any gold or platinum awards.
