Weightless is the 12th studio album by German pop singer Andrea Berg and was released on October 22, 2010 in Germany and shortly afterwards in Austria and Switzerland. According to the record awards, the album has sold over a million times to date. At 17 weeks, it is the album that has been in the top ten of the German album charts the longest in her career to date.
backgrounds
In spring 2010 Andrea Berg and her long-time music producer Eugen Römer announced the temporary end of their collaboration. According to Römer, he had health problems and decided to put Berg on hold for an indefinite period. At the request of their record label, Dieter Bohlen was chosen as the producer for the album . At first Andrea Berg was skeptical about this choice, but met Bohlen on Mallorca on the advice of her husband . The singer was convinced by the song I love you , which was written by Bohlen and which he presented to her at the meeting: when I heard that, I thought to myself: "Anyone who can compose such a song and write such lyrics has exactly the emotionality that I need. " The change to Bohlen has radicalized her style a little, but weightless is still a typical Andrea Berg record. Bohlen composed the titles and provided them with a few text fragments, on the basis of which Berg wrote the final texts for the songs. With the title I love life , she released a cover version of the hit hit by Vicky Leandros . Finally you dedicated a song to Berg for her husband for the first time.
Reviews
The radio station SWR 4 named the album CD of the week and emphasized that it did not sound like Dieter Bohlen as feared. Bohlen succeeded in "demystifying" Berg's music, the album was "more melodic and therefore also a bit more catchy" and yet Berg was "as authentic and honest as she is adored by her millions of fans" on the album.
