Duckow is about three kilometers southeast of Malchin. The federal highway 104 from Lübeck to Linken runs north of the place. The Ostpeene flows through the local area . The village of Pinnow belongs to the village of Duckow.
history
Duckow was first mentioned in a document from 1226. The place was owned by the von Maltzahn family for centuries . Despite various divisions of inheritance within the family and the family branches, Pinnow remained as the main property (from 1210 with a few interruptions until 1945) and Duckow as a secondary property in the possession of the Maltzahns.
Several Maltzahn possessions on the Ostpeene, including Duckow and the district of Pinnow, formed the säben Dbody , a Pomeranian exclave surrounded by Mecklenburg area. In 1937 these villages came from the Demmin district to the Malchin district in Mecklenburg.
The two-story manor house (manor house) Pinnow dates from the 18th century; Alterations took place in 1840, after which the manor park was created. The place was incorporated on January 1, 1951.
After 1989 there were many improvements in the design of the site. Duckow was given access to a central sewage system.
Until January 1, 2005, the community was part of the Am Kummerower See office and was then part of the Malchin am Kummerower See office . On January 1, 2019, it was incorporated into the city of Malchin. The last mayor was Erhard Galinat (CDU).
