Dumont , officially Portuguese Município de Dumont , is a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo .
The place became politically independent on March 21, 1965 after it was spun off as the previous district of the city of Ribeirão Preto on the occasion of a regional reform in 1964. In 2019, the small town had an estimated 9,868 inhabitants.
Dumont is named after the engineer and "coffee king" Henrique Dumont (1832-1892), the father of the aviation pioneer Alberto Santos Dumont , and his model plantation on the productive Terra Roxa Fazenda Dumont (initially since 1879 Fazenda Arindeúva ).
