River course
The Dungarvon River arises at the confluence of the North Branch and South Branch Dungarvon Rivers southwest of the Kennedy Lakes Nature Reserve . The river initially flows 30 km to the southeast. At Boars Head Narrows , the Dungarvon River turns east-northeast. The Dungarvon River finally flows into the Renous River, 11 km above its mouth in the Southwest Miramichi River. The course of the river is located in southwest Northumberland County . North of the Dungarvon River runs the South Branch Renous River and the Renous River , further south is the course of the Bartholomew River . The catchment area of the Dungarvon River is mainly forested.
The two source rivers North Branch and South Branch Dungarvon River are both about 10 km long and have their source at 470 m altitude. The Route 108 leads a piece along the South Branch and crosses the North Branch shortly before the unification of the two source rivers.
The Atlantic salmon is found in the river system of the Dungarvon River .
