EV Thompson
Ernest Victor Thompson , MBE (born July 14, 1931 in London , England , † July 19, 2012 in Launceston , Cornwall ), was a British writer .
Life
Ernest Victor Thompson was born in London. He has no academic training and served in the Royal Navy for nine years . He was employed by the Bristol Police and Chief Security Officer at the Department of Aviation in Rhodesia . In 1970 he moved to Cornwall to focus on writing. By the time he made his debut novel, he wrote almost 400 short stories.
With Chase the Wind , Thompson made his debut as a writer in 1977. He won the Best Historical Novel of the Year award for the novel, with prize money of £ 7,000 . In addition to guaranteeing that the novel will be published in the United States, the novel was eventually translated into 14 languages, including German. It was published by Ullstein Verlag in 1986 under the title Wild wie das Moor . He wrote a total of 39 historical novels in 35 years, of which around 5 million copies were sold worldwide.
On July 19, 2012, Thompson died at his home in Launceston at the age of 81. He left behind his wife and two sons.
