Brillantschwarz BN (also black PN) is a synthetic, water-soluble azo dye that is approved in the EC as food coloring E 151.

use

According to the Additive Approval Ordinance (ZZulV), E 151 is only approved for certain foods.

With Brillantschwarz BN, caviar substitutes , sauces, confectionery , liquorice and cosmetics such as shampoos , foam baths, shower baths and liquid soaps are colored. By using the dye, purple, brown and black shades can be achieved.

compatibility

Brilliant Black BN is considered as harmless to health, in animal studies, a slight influence on digestive enzymes are found. However, it is suspected that the dye could be involved in triggering skin reactions ( neurodermatitis ) and asthma . The permitted daily dose (ADI) is 5  milligrams per kilogram of body weight.
