history

Equatorial Congo Airlines headquarters at Brazzaville Airport

ECAir was founded in 2011 with the support of Lufthansa Consulting and the Swiss airline PrivatAir . A five-year contract with Lufthansa Consulting provided for the procurement of further aircraft and the establishment of international connections. At the end of April 2012, a Boeing 757-200 , which bears the aircraft registration HB-JJD , from the OpenSkies portfolio was added to the fleet.

On April 11, 2015, the Boeing 757-200 with the aircraft registration HB-JJE was confiscated at the airport in Paris , a Congolese entrepreneur sued in France against the Republic of the Congo and was won, whereupon the aircraft was confiscated in Paris. On April 26, the machine could be triggered and returned to regular operation.

In October 2016, Equatorial Congo Airlines had to cease flight operations due to unpaid bills.
