The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific of the United Nations ( English United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific , ESCAP or UNESCAP ) is a Commission of the United Nations for East Asia and the Pacific , based in Bangkok . It was founded in 1947.
Its tasks include promoting economic and social development aid in the 62 member states, 9 of which are not members of the United Nations .
