ESO 510-G13 is a 150 million light-years distant spiral galaxy in the constellation Hydra . Its dust disc, which can be seen at the edge , is very noticeably bent, which indicates that it interacted with another galaxy . This structure is particularly emphasized by the dark clouds lying in the disk , which are in front of the stars of the extensive, bright bulges . This conspicuous warp of the disk was first detected by the European Southern Observatory in Chile and is quite unusual, as it normally does not occur in the star-rich inner galactic disk, but in star-poor outer areas consisting of neutral hydrogen . The exact cause of the severely bent glass on the ESO 510-G13 is not known. It could either be the result of a galaxy of the same size or the remnant of the merger with a smaller galaxy.
In the outskirts of the disc are in star-forming regions , many young blue giant stars , which has a high rate of star formation show. This starburst was possibly also stimulated by a galaxy collision, which compressed the interstellar matter .
