history

It was founded on September 14, 1929 under the name Ping-Pong Club Bonn , co-founder was Karlheinz Simon . Thus, the club is one of the oldest in the area of the West German table tennis association WTTV . In 1933 the club first changed its name to the Blau-Rot Bonn table tennis club . In the same year he gave up his independence and joined the ESV Blau-Rot Bonn.

The men's team won the West German team championship in 1948, 1949 and 1950. She was three times German runner-up. In 1947, 1948 and 1949 Karlheinz Simon , Helmuth Hoffmann , Albrecht Nicolai, Bernhard Vossebein , Hans Koehler, Bert Huthmacher, "Büb" Drove and Max Höper were all defeated by MTV Munich 1879 in the final . In 1950 she finished third, a placement she had already achieved in 1934. Until 1952 she stayed in the Oberliga, the then highest German league. After that, she was relegated to the district class because of repeated no-appearances. In 2001 and 2012 she reached the upper league again, now the fourth highest German division, and since then she has played in the association league.

The annals note as a curiosity: Jupp Schlaf , later president of the DTTB , and Dieter Mauritz , national player and later also DTTB president, were not accepted into the club because they did not meet the club's requirements.
