There was a standard version as a bidirectional trolley and special designs as a one-way trolley . The accompanying sidecar is the B57 . In Dresden the cars were given the internal designation ET57 and EB57 , the few cars for Berlin were given the type designation TF 59 and BF 59 .

In 1958, two railcars differing from the series were manufactured for the narrow-gauge railway Klingenthal – Sachsenberg-Georgenthal of the Deutsche Reichsbahn as ET 198 05 and 06. As a special feature, the vehicles had a signal horn in addition to their bell in accordance with the operating regulations of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. In addition, the Klingenthal narrow-gauge railway received two sidecars. After the line was closed in 1964, the vehicles came to the Plauen tram .

In Erfurt and Halle (Saale) , facility railcars were required instead of the usual two-way railcars. On the left side, instead of the doors, these had a large fixed side window and a narrow window bridge. The row arrangement of the seats has also been changed. In Erfurt the seats on both sides of the central aisle were only arranged in one row, in Halle in two rows. The normal arrangement was one-row on the left and two-row on the right. The Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe had one-way sidecars with fixed windows instead of doors on one side. Otherwise they corresponded to the bidirectional version.

The Evpatoria tram in Ukraine converted some sidecars into control cars .

Changes during the construction period

  • From 1959 the decorative strips next to the target film boxes were no longer available.
  • From mid-1959, the wooden parts in the interior were no longer mahogany , but stained light.
  • From mid-1959, the roof was designed as a complete sheet metal roof. In addition, the wooden window frames were replaced by metal ones.
  • In 1959, tail / brake lights with a diameter of 80 mm replaced the lights with a diameter of 60 mm.
  • From the end of 1960 there were no opening windows, but three top-hung windows.
