East Berlin is located on the western border of Adams County and is directly adjacent to York County . history

On May 8, 1764, the Prussian John Frankenberger bought 200 hectares of land here and laid out 85 pieces of land. He named the city " Berlin " after his hometown in Germany. When the city got its own post office, the name was changed to "East Berlin" in 1827 to differentiate the city from the second place of that name, Berlin in Somerset County .
