The Evangelical Eben-Ezer Chapel , formerly the Maria Mutter vom Guten Rat chapel , is located at Celsiusstraße 46 in Berlin-Lichterfelde . It is part of a building complex that consists of a chapel and an extension with common rooms. It also includes a residential building .
history
The Maria Mutter vom Guten Rat congregation was founded in the 1920s. With the construction of the thermometer settlement in Lichterfelde-Süd, it became necessary to build a church for the Catholic residents. The foundation stone was laid on September 15, 1978 ; almost a year later, on September 7, 1979, the topping-out ceremony took place . The chapel was consecrated on July 5, 1980 by Bishop Joachim Meisner . She was placed under the patronage of Mary, the mother of good counsel . Since January 1, 1997, Maria, mother of the Good Council , became a curate , that is, she became independent pastoral care, but in terms of property she remained with the parish of Mater Dolorosa.
When the Kuratie Maria, Mutter vom Guten Rat was dissolved in 2004, the relics of the altar and the miraculous image of the Mother of Good Counsel came to the cruciform chapel of the Mater Dolorosa parish church in Lankwitz. Since summer 2005, the chapel has belonged to the Eben-Ezer community, an independent community in the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .
Building description
The design, planning and construction management for the complex, which was originally built as a senior citizens' meeting center, was in the hands of the Berlin architects Manfred Frankenberger and Rainer Lubnow. For the chapel they chose an octagonal floor plan , which can be extended to the church hall through a sliding door .
Altar, ambo, tabernacle, crucifix, eternal light and chandelier were designed by Sigmund Hahn , executed by various craft firms. The wall cross is from Hildegard Hendrichs , the colored glass windows were designed by Paul Corazolla .
