Eberhard Herbst (born August 23, 1941 ) is a former German soccer player.

career

The striker began his professional career in the football league West near Preußen Münster in the 1962/63 season . There he only came on one mission. He was used on the 25th matchday, April 7, 1963, in the 2-1 win against TSV Marl-Hüls on the side of Herbert Eiteljörge , Dagmar Drewes , Werner Lungwitz , Heribert Kania , Walter Bensmann and Manfred Pohlschmidt .

In 1963 he moved to Hanover 96 where he scored three goals in ten games in the Football Regionalliga Nord . With Horst Podlasly , Werner Gräber and Walter Rodekamp three other players from the western league joined the team of coach Helmut Kronsbein . On December 8, 1963, he made his debut for Hanover in the 2-0 victory at VfB Oldenburg in the Regionalliga Nord. He played on half right and scored both goals. He scored his third goal in a 2-1 away win on January 26, 1964 at VfL Wolfsburg. He rose to the side of teammates such as Otto Laszig , Udo Nix , Klaus Bohnsack , Heinz Steinwedel and Winfried Mittrowski with Hanover in 1964 in the Bundesliga, but was no longer used in the promotion round, as well as in the 1964/65 season.

He therefore moved in 1965 to the newly promoted Itzehoer SV in the Football Regionalliga Nord; he was accompanied by Peter Flegel. In the black-and-whites of the Lehmwohldstadion, the attacker immediately became a regular player. He achieved his personal best record in 1966/67 when he scored 16 goals in 30 league games for the team of coach Hans Klinger. His three goals on the second match day of the round in the away game against FC St. Pauli are a specialty. Herbst scored three goals in a 4-8 defeat. For years he played with the brothers Detlef and Michael Dähne with the Steinburgers for relegation. In the last year of the old second division of the Regionalliga, 1973/74 , Eberhard Herbst played his last regional league game on May 5, 1974, in a 2:11 defeat at champions and Bundesliga returnee Eintracht Braunschweig . For Itzehoe he came in the Regionalliga Nord from 1965 to 1974 to a total of 196 point games, in which he scored 29 goals.
