Walter Bensmann (born May 16, 1938 in Holzhausen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Walter Bensmann played in the youth of the BSV Holzhausen. From there he moved to the youth team at VfL Osnabrück in 1954 . After a year of suspension, the attacker played in the 1955/56 season with the VfL amateurs before making his debut in the football Oberliga Nord in the 1956/57 season . In the 1-1 home draw on January 6, 1957 against Holstein Kiel, he had his debut in the league next to Theo Schönhöft as a half right in the World Cup system then practiced . In the 1958/59 season, the technically adept and eager to fight striker achieved 14 goals in 23 league games. When VfL finished third in the 1960/61 season, their brother Helmut, who was two years younger than him, also played 15 games with two goals. His last league game for Osnabrück completed Bensmann on April 23, 1961 in a 3-0 home win against Altona 93 as a center forward.
