Harald Beyer (born September 21, 1939 in Braunlage ; † February 1, 2017 in Dortmund ) was a German football player . From 1959 to 1963, the striker scored 28 goals in 83 league games at Preußen Münster in the first-class West Football League and five goals in 24 appearances at Hertha BSC in the debut season of the 1963/64 Bundesliga .
Player career
Born in the Harz Mountains, Beyer moved with his parents to Castrop-Rauxel in 1952 , where he joined the local SV Castrop 02 . Due to good performances, the upper division Preußen Münster became aware of the young striker of SV Castrop in the Association League Westphalia and signed Beyer for the 1959/60 season.
In the second half of the season, on January 10, 1960, in a 1: 3 away defeat at Fortuna Düsseldorf, the former amateur striker made his debut under coach Kuno Klötzer as a center forward in the Oberliga West. By the end of the round, the Prussians finished in 10th place, there were 12 more missions with four goals alongside top performers such as Herbert Eiteljörge and Hermann Lulka . In the next three rounds Beyer belonged to the regular formation of Münster in the Oberliga West. In the last league year, 1962/63 , with eleven goals in 18 league appearances, he made a decisive contribution to the fact that the Prussians were nominated as a league player for the new Bundesliga from the western league. Between 1959 and 1963, the offensive player played 83 league games with 28 goals for Münster. In his last league game on May 1, 1963, a 1-1 draw against RW Oberhausen gave Münster a 1-0 lead.
But Beyer signed a new contract for the 1963/64 season with Hertha BSC and moved to the Spree. In addition, Hertha also signed Uwe Klimaschefski , Otto Rehhagel and Carl-Heinz Rühl . Beyer opened the new chapter of the Bundesliga with Hertha on August 24, 1963 with a 1-1 draw at home against 1. FC Nürnberg. With Rühl, Klimaschefski, Helmut Faeder and Lutz Steinert he formed the attack line as a center forward. In 24 Bundesliga games, he scored five goals this season and finally, with 14th place, he was relegated to Hertha BSC. In addition, he played twice in the trade fair cup , but the Berliners had to admit defeat to AS Roma 1: 3 and 0: 2 in the first round .
After only one season he moved on to Borussia Dortmund , where he only made three Bundesliga appearances and as many European Cup matches in two years due to injury problems. Nevertheless, he celebrated his greatest success there by winning the DFB Cup in 1965 and the European Cup Winners' Cup a year later .
After the active time
At the age of 26, despite an offer from 1. FC Kaiserslautern, he ended his football career and became a businessman . He also trained the lower-class clubs VfL Schwerte , SSV Hagen , TSC Eintracht Dortmund and SC Dortmund .
