Eberhard Winkler (theologian)

Martin Eberhard Winkler (born July 23, 1933 in Königsberg ) is a German Protestant pastor and professor emeritus for practical theology at the theological faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg .

Life

After attending school (first in Königsberg in East Prussia , then in Kaufungen and Waldenburg in Saxony ), Winkler completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in Kaufungen and worked as a journeyman carpenter in Limbach-Oberfrohna . From 1952 to 1955 he attended the mission seminar in Leipzig and then studied theology at the University of Rostock until 1960 . While he was doing his vicariate in Kölzow and Rostock, he received his doctorate in 1961 with a thesis on exegetical methods with Meister Eckhart in Rostock. In 1963 the second church examination followed, in 1965 the habilitation (about the funeral sermon in German Lutheranism to Spener ) and ordination in Rostock. Afterwards he was pastor in Rostock, but in 1966 he moved to the University of Halle as a lecturer in practical theology , where he was appointed professor of practical theology in 1969. In addition, he was parish administrator in Halle-Büschdorf from 1967 to 1975 and in Gutenberg from 1975 to 1997 .

After his retirement he was a substitute professor for practical theology at the Humboldt University of Berlin from 1998 to 1999 . From 1971 to 2000 Winkler was co-editor of the Theologische Literaturzeitung , from 1987 to 1992 he was President of the Leipzig Gustav-Adolf-Werk .

He lives in Gutenberg, is married and has four children.
