history

The church of the village of Büschdorf, first mentioned in 1228, was founded in the 2nd half of the 12th century, as indicated by the patronage of St. Nicholas . At the time of Archbishop Wichmann (before 1116–1192), who owned the village, Dutch settlers were settled to drain the Reideniederung . They consecrated their churches, like those in Böllberg and Dölau , to St. Bishop Nikolaus von Myra, the protector against water hazards. The church was built on a higher dry place in the west of the village.

At the beginning of the 18th century, like many in the region, the church was extensively baroque , the windows of the hall and choir enlarged and the steeple increased in the years 1720 to 1724.

In 1909 today's tower button and the flag made of copper were put on and four years later the church received colored glass windows, made by Ferdinand Müller from Quedlinburg .

From 1994 to 2001 the interior and exterior of the church were renovated, the tower and roof structure were re-covered, the tower knob restored and the wooden barrel re-plastered.

description

The nave and tower of the plastered, stone- built church, which is entered through a gate on the south side of the tower, date from the 2nd half of the 12th century. The church interior is a small hall closed on three sides in the east with an equally wide rectangular west tower. The narrower, also transversely rectangular tower top is crowned by a " Welschen hood ". The sacrament niche in the north of the choir also dates from the time the church was built . The end of the choir is Gothic . The octagonal baptistery of sandstone dates from the 1520th

Since the renovation in the 18th century, the church has been vaulted by a plastered wooden barrel, the baroque ceiling mirror of which has still been preserved. The church was also equipped with a three-sided gallery and a polygonal wooden pulpit .

The pneumatic organ in the western gallery (twelve stops on two manuals and pedal ) from 1888 comes from Wilhelm Rühlmann's workshop in Zörbig . In 1929 she received new prospect pipes .
