The von Eckersberg family , also Eckartsberg , was a Thuringian - Franconian knight dynasty.

history

The Eckartsburg ( Eckardsberge Castle ) is assumed to be the place of origin of this old family, which died out in Thuringia and Saxony . Today the castle is above Eckartsberga . First published in a document with Christian de Ekehardisberg 1185, further with Henricus de Eckirsberg, miles . Since the 13th century on the Eckartsburg as hereditary marshals (castle commanders), whereby the marshals Heinrich and Albert von Eckersberg are mentioned as early as 1265. Later the family spread to Franconia and Silesia.

They are not to be confused and are not related to the "Marschall von Eckartsberg or the Marschall von Ebersberg or Ekersberg", which come from the Thuringian marshals .

The family was wealthy in Berge (Meißen) 1500, Helmsdorf (Grafschaft Mansfeld) 1637, Weistropp (Meißen) 1590, in Silesia in Eckartswaldau (Sprottau) 1813, Giesmannsdorf, Central. (Bunzlau) 1681, 1801, Greif (Glogau) 1804, Kunzendorff (Schweidnitz) 1803, Neudeck (Glogau) 1804 and 1830, Parchau (Lüben) 1751 and 1835, Nieder-Zauche (Sprottau) 1681 and 1830 and in Ober-Zauche ( Glogau) 1751 and 1891.

Johann von Eckersberg died as provost in Naumburg Cathedral in 1406.

Christoph von Eckersberg was bailiff of Selb until his death in 1603 . His son Georg Heinrich von Eckersberg succeeded him from 1603 as bailiff of Selb. After the margravial administrative reform of 1613, he was the governor of the six offices in Wunsiedel until his death in 1636.

Helene born von Eckersberg was the daughter of Christoph von Eckersberg. She was married to Hieronymus Ludwig von Sparneck and Weißdorf zu Dörflas from 1618 at the latest . She had 3 children with him (2 sons, 1 daughter). Her son Christoph Hieronymus von Sparneck and Weißdorf zu Bernstein was the senior of the von Sparneck family from 1643 to 1688 and thus feudal lord of the Sparneck imperial and family fiefs. The funeral sermon given by Andreas Rhau at the funeral of her daughter Anna Kunigunda in July 1635 in the parish church of St. Veit zu Wunsiedel has been preserved for posterity.

The family coat of arms shows a black, silver-studded Hifthorn ( hunting horn ) with silver clasps and a silver cord. Three gold, silver and black ostrich feathers are stuck on the crowned helmet . In other representations, the hip horn is repeated on the helmet. The helmet covers are gold and black.

As a grandmother's (paternal) coat of arms, it can be found on two gravestones of the children of Christoph Hieronymus von Sparneck, whose mother Helene von Eckersberg was, in the parish church in Bernstein .
