location

The village is located about 4 km north of Reischach in a hilly rural landscape. It is laid out as a scattered settlement . In addition to the core town with the church, which is close to the AÖ 11 district road , there are also various desert areas with one or two properties. Ecking owns a rich stock of fruit trees.

history

Ecking was probably first mentioned in a document around 1160. At that time, a Mr. Ulrich ( Oudilrich ) von Arbing gave a property in a place called "Echingen" to the Baumburg monastery . The first reliable documentary evidence of Ecking dates back to around 1186. In this time the Raitenhaslach monastery gave Otto von Endlkirchen an estate for "Ekchingen" as a personal property .

The place name Ecking is based on the old German name of the place founder "Ecko" or "Eko". With the suffix "ing" it means "among the people of the echo (Eko)".

In 1986 Ecking received the first prize at the district level in the competition " Our village should become more beautiful ".
