Edward Charles "Ed" Podivinsky (born March 8, 1970 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ski racer . He started mainly in the speed disciplines and was particularly successful in the downhill .

biography

Podivinsky won a world cup race in his career, the downhill in Saalbach-Hinterglemm on January 6, 1994. In addition to four other podium places in the downhill, he achieved one in combination . He was less successful in the Super-G .

The highlight of his career was winning the bronze medal at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer . He only lost twelve hundredths of a second on the winner, Tommy Moe . He would have had a similar surprise almost four years later in the downhill run at the 1998 Olympic Games in Nagano , where he was fifth and only lost eight hundredths of a second to bronze.

After the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City , he resigned from racing.
