Edda Baumann-von Broen (* 1964 in Celle ) is a German film producer , film director and author .

biography

Edda Baumann-von Broen studied German and American studies in Berlin and in 1987 moved to New York University as a DAAD scholarship holder . She then wrote for various music magazines and worked as a director and producer for German and international broadcasters. In 1992 she took over the management of avanti media film production in New York City . There she developed her first broadcast format with Florian Lahnstein, Avanti - the culture magazine for VOX (1993–1995).

In 1995 Baumann-von Broen returned to Berlin and founded the film and television production company avanti media OHG together with Cordula Kablitz-Post . The company produced the documentary series Mein Leben , Maestro , Faces of Europe and Germany, your artists for ARD , ZDF and ARTE . In 2002 Baumann-von Broen and Martin Pieper developed Durch die Nacht mit… , a documentary format for ARTE, which she is still producing. The format was awarded the Adolf Grimme Prize . In 2014 she produced the documentary The Donald Duck Principle , which tells of the fear of failure caused by the most famous unlucky boob. In 2016 she produced the series Kuba - Auf zu neue Shore , for ARTE , which documents the change and optimism in the country, and in 2018 the documentary Real Men , which examines the myth of the male screen hero and his influence on society. Edda Baumann-von Broen lives in Berlin.
