Edgar Moron (born August 28, 1941 in Beuthen ) is a German social democratic politician.

Life and work

After graduating from high school, Edgar Moron studied political science at the Free University of Berlin from 1962 to 1967 . He graduated with a degree in political science. From 1967 to 1968 he was an assistant at the John F. Kennedy Institute at Freie Universität. He then worked until 1973 at the East College of the Federal Agency for Civic Education . From 1973 to 1991, Moron worked as a consultant for domestic policy issues in the SPD parliamentary group in Bonn.

Party and honorary activities

Moron has been a member of the SPD since 1970. He was temporarily the chairman of the local association in Erftstadt and is a member of the subdistrict board of the Rhein-Erft district . Moron is also a member of the ver.di union and the workers' welfare organization .

Mandates

Edgar Moron was a member of the city council of Erftstadt from 1975 to 2000 and was chairman of the social democratic parliamentary group between 1979 and 1998. In addition, he had been a member of the district council of the Erftkreis since 1989 and chairman of the SPD parliamentary group between 1994 and 2000. In addition, between 1989 and 1999 he was a member of the district planning council in the Cologne district . Moron was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from 1990 to 2010 . In the 11th and 12th electoral term he represented constituency 11 ( Erftkreis III - Euskirchen I ) as a directly elected member , in the 13th electoral term he represented constituency 14 ( Erftkreis IV ), in the 14th electoral term he moved to the state list Parliament a. After losing the state elections in 2005, he did not run for this office again. Instead, he supported Hannelore Kraft's candidacy . In the 2005 to 2010 electoral period, Moron was 1st Vice President of the State Parliament.

In an interview on May 18, 2010, Moron expressed skepticism about a coalition with the Left in North Rhine-Westphalia, as their policy was "completely absurd" and instead considered a coalition with the CDU possible.
