Edgar Schwörbel (born December 14, 1915 in Vienna ; † before 1984) was a German diplomat . From 1968 to 1971 he was the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Honduras .

Life

His father was Heribert Otto Paul Schwörbel and his older brother Herbert Schwörbel . Edgar Schwörbel was appointed to the senior government council in Berlin at the beginning of 1954. In 1962 his contribution to Tibet appeared in the dictionary of international law, Volume 3, to which Schröbel was introduced as a German diplomat in the Far East and a recognized international lawyer.

In 1966 Schwörbel Edgar was a lecturer in the Legation Council 1st class and head of the Portugal, Spain, Holy See, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, Nordic States, Austria, Switzerland, Order of Malta Department in the Foreign Office.

In support of the colonial war that the regime of António de Oliveira Salazar waged in Angola , the German federal governments had weapons of the Bundeswehr , such as Republic F-84 aircraft, decommissioned and interarms in the via VEBEG Verwertungsgesellschaft für federal property and Samuel Cummings deliver to colonial crisis areas. This weapon aid had no public effect, nor was it given a legal basis in the German Bundestag . From November 20 to 24, 1967 Schwörbel was involved in negotiations with the Portuguese Defense Minister Manuel Gomes de Araújo (1962–1968) on the continuation of military cooperation between the armed forces of Portugal and the German Armed Forces. The representatives of the German government submitted that they were forced to review the military plans in Portugal. Around 150 Air Force members and 150 Portuguese aid workers should be stationed at the Beja Airbase. A telecommunications center was to be built in Évora . The government of the FRG had previously bought armaments in Portugal for 750 million German marks , which covered the need. The deliveries by the Bundeswehr to the Portuguese armed forces have been very substantial in the past and at favorable terms and prices. The federal government therefore had political difficulties and is therefore not completely free in the future to decide on further deliveries.

During Edgar Schwörbel's tenure as ambassador to Honduras, a war between Honduras and El Salvador took place in the week of July 14, 1969 .
