Edgar Stepanyan (born January 1, 1997 in Masis ) is an Armenian cyclist who competes in races on track and road .

Athletic career

In 2014 Edgar Stepanyan won the bronze medal in the points race at the Junior World Championship . In the following year he became Junior European Champion in Scratch , making him the first cyclist in his country to win gold at European Championships. In the same year he was runner-up in the junior world championship in the points race. In 2017 he finished second in the scratch at the Track World Cup 2017/18 in Pruszków , in 2018 he was U23 European champion in the points race; at the European Elite Track Championships he finished eighth in the points race. Also in 2018 he moved to the USA and joined the Velo Pasadena Club , which was founded and is run by a compatriot, the former racing driver Hrach Gevrikyan.

At the end of May 2019, Stepanyan broke his arm at the Grand Prix of Moscow . A few weeks later he took part in the European Games in Minsk . On the advice of the doctors, he did not start in the road race, but in the scratch race on the track and finished 16th there.
