Edgar Valcárcel Arze (born December 4, 1932 in Puno , † March 11, 2010 in Lima ) was a Peruvian composer .

Valcárcel studied at the Music Academy in Lima with Andrés Sás Orchassal , at Hunter College ( New York ) with Donald Lybbert , at the Centro Latinoamericano de Altos Estudios Musicales (CLAEM) in Buenos Aires and at the Electronic Music Center of Columbia University New York under Vladimir Ussachevski and Alcides Lanca . He was a professor of composition at the Lima Conservatory.

Valcárel's oeuvre includes orchestral works, a piano , a cello and a clarinet concerto , chamber music in various scoring, two piano sonatas , choral works, songs , incidental music and works for electronic instruments.
