Edmon Colomer i Soler

Edmon Colomer i Soler (born September 26, 1951 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan conductor. Colomer is one of the most important Catalan conductors of the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Colomer is the son of the Catalan musicologist and composer Àngel Colomer .

life and work

Colomer studied at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona . There he was a student of Xavier Montsalvatge in conducting and a student of Antoni Ros i Marbà in composition . He completed in-depth studies with Hans Swarowsky in Vienna, George Hurst in England and Sergiu Celibidache in Germany.

He was titular director of the Orquestra del Conservatori de Barcelona , the Barcelona Coral Cantiga and the Conservatori Professional de Manresa (Conservatory of Manresa). In 1981 he started working with the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona and the Banda Municipal de Barcelona . He has directed the Jove Orquesta Nacional de España (1983, Spanish Youth Orchestra), the Orquestra simfònica de Tenerife (1986) and the Orquestra de Picardie (1998). In 2002 he was appointed director of the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès (Symphony Orchestra of the Vallès ). Colomer has toured with English, French and German orchestras. He went on tour with the OBC in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 1994 and in Japan in 1995. He has made important recordings. A very special recording is that of the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo with Paco de Lucía and the Orquestra de Cadaqués conducted by Edmon Colomer from 1991.

Colomer received first prize at the Rencontres Internationales de Chant Choral in Tours, the Joaquim Rodrigo Prize in Sagunto and the Enric Morera Prize in Barcelona.
