Edmund Cardinal Dalbor (born October 30, 1869 in Ostrowo , Posen Province ; † February 13, 1926 in Posen , Poland ) was Archbishop of Gniezno ( Gniezno ) and Posen and Primate of Poland .

Life

Edmund Dalbor studied in Münster , Gniezno , Poznan and Rome trays Catholic theology and philosophy and received on February 25, 1893 sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1894 he was at the Pontifical Gregorian University to the doctor of canon law doctorate .

From 1893 to 1915 he worked as a pastor, lecturer and canon lawyer in Poznan, where he headed the administration of the diocese as vicar general from 1909 . In 1915 he was appointed Archbishop of Gniezno and Posen. He was ordained bishop on September 21, 1915 by the Archbishop of Cologne , Felix Cardinal von Hartmann ; Co- consecrators were Adolf Bertram , Bishop of Wroclaw , and Wilhelm Atanazy Kloske , Titular Bishop of Theodosiopolis in Armenia , Rector of the Wroclaw Seminary and official of the Archdiocese of Gniezno. Pope Benedict XV took Edmund Dalbor in 1919 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Giovanni a Porta Latina in the college of cardinals .

Edmund Dalbor died on February 13, 1926 and was buried in Gnesen Cathedral.
