Edmund Friedrich Levin von Nagel (* 1689 ; † August 1, 1744 ) was an official droste in Stromberg and major general in the prince-bishop's army.

Life

Origin and family

Edmund Friedrich Levin von Nagel was born the son of Christoph Bernhard von Nagel and his wife Anna Odilia Charlotte von Brabeck zu Letmathe († 1704).

On February 2, 1722, he married Johanna Rosina Antoinetta von Tastungen († 1743). The children Franz Ferdinand and Hermann Adolf emerged from the marriage.

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on August 27, 1702 Edmund Friedrich Levin von Nagel was prepared for a clerical office. At the age of 28 he was sworn up to the knighthood of Münster . He was thus a representative in the state parliament . Its task was to regulate the tax system and from 1447 also the feuding system in the bishopric of Münster .

On January 10, 1719 he was assigned to his father in the office of Drosten in Stromberg and then, after his death, he was appointed as Drost. Like his father and grandfather Dietrich Hermann , he was also in the service of the prince-bishop's army. He was a major general and a colonel in a regiment on horseback. In the cavalry regiment of Bönninghausen he was lieutenant colonel in 1731 and colonel in 1733. From 1724 to 1739 he also acted as governor of Peine .
