Edmund Krenn
Edmund Friedrich Arthur Krenn (born April 25, 1845 in Vienna , † February 13, 1902 in Zurich ) was an Austrian genre and landscape painter.
Born as the son of the composer Franz Krenn , he studied from 1862 to 1868 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Karl Mayer , Peter Johann Nepomuk Geiger , Carl Wurzinger and Joseph von Führich . Edmund Krenn continued his studies in Munich , but was not enrolled.
He then went on study trips to Germany , Holland , Italy and Egypt , then returned to Vienna.
At first he created genre paintings in oil painting, later he became involved in architectural painting in watercolor . Krenn worked as an art writer and reviewer. From 1873 he exhibited his works in Vienna and then abroad.
In 1893 he moved to Switzerland and settled in Zurich, where he was granted Swiss citizenship . Because of an eye condition he had to give up painting in 1895 and gave painting lessons.
