Edrom is a village in the north-east of the Scottish Council Area Scottish Borders or in the traditional county of Berwickshire . It is located about five kilometers northeast of Duns near the left bank of Whiteadder Water .

history

Since 1139 at the latest, there has been a church on the site, which was subordinate to the Coldingham Priory . Today's Edrom Parish Church dates back to 1737. The find of a hogback from the 11th century in the cemetery is remarkable .

In the early 18th century, which was on the northern edge of Edrom mansion Edrom House built. In the 1790s, another mansion was added , Manderston House to the west . A fortification of the Home clan was previously located there .

Located in a sparsely populated region of the Scottish Borders, Edrom is only connected to the road network via an unclassified secondary road. South runs the A6105 , which connects Earlston to Berwick-upon-Tweed . The A6112 is also accessible in Duns .

In 1849 Edrom got its own station on the first section of the later Berwickshire Railway . The line connected St Boswells with Reston from 1865 and thus created a connection between the Waverley Line and the East Coast Main Line . In 1951 the Edrom train station was closed.
