Edson is a Swedish indie pop band from Gävle .

history

Edson was founded by Pelle Carlberg in the summer of 1998. He named the band after the football player Pelé , whose real name is Edson Arantes Nascimento. Initially, Edson was Pelle's solo project, but it soon developed into a band with the current line-up and Pelle as songwriter and lead singer. In 1999 Edson made about 30 live performances, including at the famous Hultsfred Festival . In the same year the label Stormstreet Records became aware of the band and signed them. The first EP was released in September, Sunday, Lovely Sunday . In autumn 2000 moved to Edson Summer Sound Recordings and played there the debut album Unwind with Edson one, which was released in February 2,001th The follow-up album For Strength was produced again in Gävle in December 2001 with Andreas Ahlenius as sound engineer and released in 2002. Both albums received a lot of attention in the indie scene and earned good reviews. In 2003 the band was taken over by Labrador Records through a label merger and released the EP One Last Song For You Know That and the long player Every Day, Every Second in the course of the year . Pelle Carlberg then devoted himself again to solo projects, so that since then no new Edson releases have appeared on the market. A final breakup of the band did not take place, rather Carlberg let it be known that he thought a concert would be possible at any time. In the spring of 2008 Pelle Carlberg went on tour again with Edson. Together with Club 8 they gave concerts in China , Taiwan , Hong Kong , Singapore , Malaysia and Indonesia .
