Eduard Bovensiepen (born July 14, 1921 in Düsseldorf , † October 11, 1984 in Munich ) was a German politician ( SPD ). He was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and mayor of the city of Velbert .

Life

Bovensiepen attended elementary school and then did an administration training at an administration and business academy. After completing his training, he worked at the employment office in Velbert until 1940 and again from 1942 to 1948, in the last few years as a department manager. In the intervening period, from 1940 to 1942, he completed his military service, but was ultimately dismissed as a disabled man. After 1946 he was employed by the German Trade Union Federation, in the Düsseldorf-Mettmann district committee in Velbert, as a legal protection secretary. From 1950 he was a permanent representative at the Düsseldorf Regional Court for the entire judicial district.

Bovensiepen was a member of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union from June 1947 and joined the SPD in February 1949. From 1952 he was first deputy chairman and later chairman of the administrative committee of the state employment office in North Rhine-Westphalia. From 1953 he was councilor and from 1956 mayor of the city of Velbert. From January 1957 he was a member of the board of directors of the Federal Agency for Employment and Unemployment Insurance. On July 21, 1958, he entered the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia through a direct mandate in the 058 Düsseldorf-Mettmann-Ost constituency. In 1959 he was appointed director of the state labor office in Bremen, which is why he moved away from Velbert and gave up both the mayor's office and the state parliament mandate. Hubert Dellwing took his place in the state parliament , and Hans-Günter Steinhauer became the new mayor of Velbert . Bovensiepen later became President of the Schleswig-Holstein State Labor Office. He gave up this position in September 1984 and moved to Munich. He died there a few weeks later. In March 1984 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit.
