Eduard Gleim
Eduard Gleim (born March 31, 1812 in Bad Schwalbach , † March 4, 1899 in Munich ) was a German landscape painter.
Gleim attended high school in Hersfeld . From 1830 he studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg and Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg .
Gleim changed his life plans and moved to Karlsruhe to study landscape painting with Ernst Fries .
After Ernst Fries' suicide on October 11, 1833, Gleim went to Munich to continue his studies with Moritz von Schwind , Feodor Dietz , Albert Zimmermann and Friedrich Voltz . Since 1840 he exhibited his landscape paintings in the Munich Art Association and other art exhibitions.
Gleim married the daughter of the finance councilor Matthes in Karlsruhe in 1847 and took over a private position as a pension administrator in Mannheim . Gleim lived in Weinheim from 1848 to 1860 , then went to Munich, where he also worked as a freelance painter after the death of his wife in 1865.
