Eduard Haschek (born March 11, 1875 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary , † January 16, 1947 in Vienna) was an Austrian physicist .

Life

He studied physics , mathematics and chemistry at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1895 with a thesis " on galvanic polarization in alcoholic solutions ". From 1901 he was assistant to Franz-Serafin Exner and completed his habilitation in 1903 in the field of experimental physics . From 1912 he was an associate professor and since 1929 a full professor. Immediately after the annexation of Austria , on April 22, 1938, Haschek was banned from working and studying at the university.

With Exner, Haschek carried out a long and remarkable series of investigations into ultraviolet spectroscopy and made significant contributions to the theory of color .

Together with Franz-Serafin Exner, he carried out the first medically indicated X-ray of a patient with trauma to the middle phalanx of the 5th finger and was also involved in the first experimental X-ray angiography together with the anatomist Tandler and Otto Lindenthal (1872-1947).
