Eduard Meier (engineer)

Eduard Meier (born December 31, 1834 in Halle (Saale) ; † January 8, 1899 in Friedenshütte ) was a German ironworker in Upper Silesia.

Life

Meier first studied medicine in Halle and Göttingen . In 1854 he became a member of the Corps Palaiomarchia . He switched to mining and went to the Montan University Leoben . He came from Upper Silesia via Dortmund in 1880 as head of the Upper Silesian Eisenhüttenbedarfs AG. He modernized the peace hut and rebuilt it after a disaster in 1887. With a branch in Russian Poland , he made it the best steel and rolling mill in Upper Silesia. Meier was considered "probably the most imaginative ironworker in Upper Silesia".

Meier was the son of Moritz Hermann Eduard Meier . Eduard Meier's sons were the ironworks director Max Meier and the art historian Julius Meier-Graefe .
